A PLANTING BEE.
TO THE EDITOB. Sin,—lt is to be hoped that the proposal made by Mr Edgectunbo at the late meeting of the domain board, suggesting that a " planting beo " should be arranged, will not be allowed to drop. I find the idea is approved of by many who are willing to give a few hours work towards planting the slopes of the Lake reserve. Visitors from Auckland are constantly expressing their wonder that the improving of this portion of the reserve is not taken in hand, as even if only partially laid out and planted it would help to make the township attractive to visitors and others. If this matter is actively takdn up by two or three energetic persons, and a " Bee " formed, much may be done during the next month, and a season be saved. If this can be arranged, surely tho board will fiud a few pounds for trees sufficient to make a start with at once, so that the season is not altogether lost.—l am, yours obediently, Civis.
