CONCERT AT KIHIKIHI.
A concert was held in the public hall here on Monday evening in aid <jif the funds of Christ Church (Anglicnu()The Rev R. G. Boler occupied the chair. In spite of the very wet weather the attondance was very largo the hall jbeing crowded. Some .ladies gentlemen who were to have taken' part in the proceedings; were absent through illness, but much as their absence was to be regretted,' those who attended fully made up their j minds to compensate for the non-attendance of others, and it is very gratifying to| know their efforts were successful. The j ladies and singers arp v deserving of very great praise for having cbhje,i many of them long distances, in the pouring rain to assist. I shall not refer to any song in particular, it might occasion a slight unpleasantness, and I wish to j retain the few sttaggling locks I have still left on my intellectual brow, but I cart mention Mr King's " local hits" without raising a storm of jealous feeling, as it was a recitation and not a song. It was inimitable, his local allusions wore paiticularly good, and elicited great laughter. Mr Gray, of course, was in his usual form. The following is the programme:—-Piano-forte duet, " Sleigh Bells," Mrs | Buckworth and Miss Arnold ; Jubilee song, Mr King; . song, "The , Fisherwife's Vigil," Miss Finch ; duet, "When the wind," Mrs Ellis and Miss Ogle; song, comic, Mr Gray; song, "White Wings," Mrs Andrew ; soncr, "Lost Chord," Mr Hunter; song, "The Kerry Dance," Miss Allen (encore, " Tit for Tat "). 2nd part:—Glee, "Fays, and Elves," company ; song, "Somebody," Mrs Andrew; song, "A Summer Sfiower," Miss Finch ; recitation, " Local Hits," Mr King; song, "True to the last, , ' Miss Allen: song, "Anchored," Mr Hunter; reading, "The cap fits," Rev. Mr Boler: song, "Rolling Home," Mr Gray (encore, "The Parson and the Clerk , '). Mr Boler moved a vote of thanks, which was carried, by acclamation, to the singers, specially mentioning those who had come long distances. Mr Hutchinson having thanked the audience, the hall was cleared for dancing.—(Own Correspondent.)
