In its power of calming nervous excitement, of giving rest to the weary and enabling the system to bear any sudden or unaccustomed strain, it far supasses Tea, and those engaged in mental occupations will find it a more agreeable and reliable resource than either wine or spirits. The Hop Trade. The Kentish hop growers are taking practically in hand the question of the adulteration of beor. They have met and have demanded that a measure should be passed compelling brewers and sellers of beer to post conspicuously notices giving exact descriptions of the ingredients used. The people who like honest malt and hops would then bo a.ble to "see that they get them," while those who are not of such exclusive tastes would be able to suit themselves. The idea is an excellent one. The Englishman's idea of beer is a beverage made of malt and hops. There arc comparatively tew brewing linns in England who supply this ideal drink.—(" Waikato rimes.") THIS IDEAL BEVEKAGE can tiowever, be procured at the Waikato Brewery, Hamilton. C. J. W. BARTON.
