MELBOURNE WOOL MARKET.
Messrs Goldsbrough Report under date, Melbourne, May 30:—The quantity coming forward is smallar than usual, even at this dull season of the year, consequently we have no transactions of interest to re-i port. During the month a few unimpor-: tant auction sales have been held, at which about 000 bales' were disposed of, consisting chiefly of remnants of northern clips, addments, and scoured parcels from country fell mongers.: Competition has been keen, the demand being strongest for coarse Crossbreds and good Combing Scoured when in fair shipping condition. The prices obtainable compared very favourably with late London rates, and all lots sent forward will meet with ready sale. We learn by cablegram that tho list of arrivals for tho third series of Colonial Wool Sales, which is to commence on the 7th June, closed in London on the 21st instant, •300,000 bales having being admitted. Our advices from the inland districts continue most satisfactory. Tho lambing, so far as we can ascertain, has been excellent, throughout almost the whole of the pastoral areas, tho ewes being in good condition and
the lambs strong and vigorous. With the exceplioipof a. small portion of Western Victoria, feed and water is everywhere abundant, [.stock are doing well, and the profopecls of the ensuing dip are most encouraging, j - i
