The Supreme Court was occupied all today hearing the case against Charles Henry Wight, charged with rape on a Maori woman at Komata. The case is not concluded. Educational. The Board of Education have resolved, re the controversy about the inspection of schools, that the inspectors be requested to report upon the school syllabus, and also relative to drawing up a system by which uniformity may be obtained in examinations. City CouncilMr Edward Parsons was elected city councillor for the Grafton Ward to-day. Sharemarket. There has been a slight inquiry for bank shares. There are sellers of most insurance stocks at market rates. In mining Prince Imperials head the list. Sales have been made at 4s 3d ; Manukaus, Is ; Cambrias (sellers), 3s (id ; Saxon, 2s Gd.
