Knox said the result of the reduction would .- be;a return/to the old system of allowing the cattle.on the; streets. The half-crown as a deterrent—Or. Jones supported the "motion,; and expressed his willingness to make up the loss to the ranger. ~—Cr. Scott thought they.should suspend the order to keep the cattle off the.rpads a!t night for'the'winter,*in order to< give poor people a chance to get through the season. HeVmoved to that effect.—The Mayor could this as an amendment.—Cr. Tippe.n having replied, the motion was put, the voting being as follows.:—For: Thb Mayor; Crs. Tippen and Dey; against!: Crs. The Mayor gave his casting vote with the noes, on the ground 'that the matter should be dealt with by a-full council. j- ; Town Clehk's Holiday.—The council granted the clerk the usual holiday.
