WHEAT GROWING IN WAIKATO.
TO THE EDITOR. Sin,— 1 have purchased a considerable quantity of wheat in the Waikato this year for the mill at Ngaruawahia. The wheat this season has been remarkably good, aud the price paid four shillings, delivered at the mill. No doubt the favourable weather this season had something to do with the quality of the wheat. There has been more care taken by the farmers iu its preservation. There is, however, too much spring wheat, and I would strongly urge on the farmers to increase the acreage, and to sow a larger quantity of winter wheat. There should be no difficulty in growing sufficient for the Waikato mills, and a surplus for the Auckland mills. One essential is the. ground well prepared and good seed. This will keep the money circulating iu the district. —I am, yours truly, John La jib. Auckland, June Ith.
