SERIOUS ACCIDENTS.
Had the Waikato Hospital building been ready it would have received two additional patients on Tuesday, both the subjects cf serious accidents. The first was Mr Henry Buttle, the manager of Mr Allen's escatc at Piako. While out riding on Monday he was thrown from his horse with such violence that the bone of his left shoulder, near the joint, sustained a compound fracture. He came in to Hamilton by Tuesday morning's train and, in default of the hospital, took up his quarters at Gwynne's Hotel, where he was attended to by Drs. Kenny and Murch.
The other accident was also one of a very painful nature. It occurred to a little boy 11 years of age, a son of Mr Mark Smith, of YVhatawhata, on Tuesday. He was driving some pigs home when a boar attacked him with great ferocity, inflicting serious injuries upon him. A large piece of flesh was torn out of one of his thighs, and he was wounded in different parts of the body. He was unable to proceed home, and but for the fact that some people coming in from Waitetuna to the circus, heard his cries, the poor little fellow might have lain in the fern all night. He was taken home and Dr. Murch was sent for, who recommended his removal to Hamilton for hospital treatment. The patient was accordingly brought in yesterday, and temporarily lodged at Mrs Moore's boarding-house.
