THE IRISH LAND COMMISSION.
A return was issued on Wednesday showing that up to the 2Sth of February last the number of applications to have fair rents fixed in the Land Commission and Civil Bill Courts was 136,692, and the number fixed 59,735; the number; of applications dismissed or out, 24,687 ; and applications withdrawn, 10,001. The number of agreements made out of court was 59,831. The number of miscellaneous originating notices on the subject of the sale of tenancies and resumption of holdings was 1108, and the number disposed of up to the 28th |of February was SO7. The number of appeals lodged up to that date re fair rents, &c., was 21,7.14, of which 7G22 had been heard. " The number dismissed or struck out, less those reinstated, 554: aud the number withdrawn, 9473. Under the Labourers (Ireland) Acts, ISBS-S6, there had been 480 applications only up to February the 28th, of which rents had been fixed in 315 cases, and 49 applications had been withdrawn. Under the Land Purchase Act of 1885 there had been 5427 loans applied for, to the value of £2,558,569; loans had been sanctioned in 4403 cases to the amount of £1 ,997,531; and in 2246 cases loans had been issued to the amount of £957,615.
