THE VINCENT-M'LEOD IMBROGLIO.

A.T the R.M. Court, Hamilton, on Thursday, Augustus Vincent was charged with challenging Alex. McLeod to fight with leather gloves. After hearing the evidence, which went to show that Vincent had sent McLeod a written challenge, the bench dismissed the charge, defendant to pay costs. Augustus Vincent, Mary Vincent ami Thomas Vincent were then charged with forcible entry on tho 21st. The main evidence consisted of an admission to McLeod by defendant that he had broken into the house. The decision was reserved. The same defendants were then chargo;! with committing an assault, upon W. B. McPherson by striking him with bludgoons, &c, on the 2.'Jni insr. The evidence of plaintiff went to show that defendants forcibly entered the house on that day, and as ho resisted their entrance they assaulted and beat him. The defendants denied the allegations. It transpired that a young woman named Mrs Proctor was a witness of the scene, and the magistrate dispatched a constable to obtain her eviden.ee, at the same time directing the police, in the event of her evidence being favourable to McPherson, to enter an action against the Vincents for perjury. The hearing of the case was theu adjourned until to-day.
