Annual meeting of the llangiaohia Licensing Committee will be held on Monday, the Gth of June. Mr John Knox will sell at the Hamilton Auction Mart on Saturday, side-saddle, double-barrelled breach-loading gun, cartridges, produce, tinware, &c. Messrs W. J. Hunter and Co. will sell at Ohaupo to-day, 500 head good cattle, see list; also 200 store ewes, &e. On the .11th, they will sell at Hamilton, horses, dairy cows, pigs, produce, &c. On Saturday, the 14th, they will sell at Cambridge, horses, buggy, spring waggon, harness, &c., the property of Messrs Lewis and Simpson. See list of lots, which are worthy of inspection. It is a pity we have had no skating this last winter. Skatinsr is a very heathful exercise. It not only puts in play all the muscles of the legs and arms, but it creates bumps on the head for future phrenologists to feel and report on. Getting Round Thk Law. — I The authorities in a colonial town passed a law ' that all public houses should be closed at twelve o'clock at midnight. The keepers complied—shut at twelve, and opened five minutes afterwards for the next day.
