Report.— At Cambridge last Saturday wo bad an unusally large number of horses, and an exceptionally good class. The 3 year-old colts from Morrin and Studholme made from £10 to £10 10s; 2 year-olds £7 ; and yearlings from £5 to £6 10; a pair of three year-old colts made £7 12s Gd each ; draught horse, £15; draught colt, 4 years, broken, £12 10; draught mare, £13; draught gelding, £14 ; brown 4 year-old hack £18 ; bay colt, 3 years by Merrylegs £13; chestnut hack, £12; bay gelding by Dalesman passed at £17 ; inferior sorts at from £2 to £5. At Ohaupo on Tuesday the yards were filled, and cattle dull of sale. Fat cows from £3 5s to £417s Gd; fat steers, £5; grown steers fresh for turnips, £3 7s Gd, £3 10s, £4 Is, and £4 4s; fresh spfeyed heifers, £2 ; eighteen month steers, £1 10s to £1 15s; calves, 8s to 12s; yearling steers, choice, passed at £1 10s and £1 12s. Many of the Te Puke cattle held over. .Dairy cows, in demand, and made from £3 10s to £G ss. Sheep: One pen of ewes, fat, sold at 7s; no wethers sold. At Morrinsville, on Thursday, very few cattle yarded, and not half of them sold. Have sold privately during the week 1250>f theJNapier wethers at 7s. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Mb Alered"Buckland's Wekkly Report.—At the Haymarket on Saturday, <\»ril 9, loose fooder brought from 2s to 3s the cwt; chaff, £3 to £4 5s the ton oat«, Is lOd to 2s 2d the bushel, consequent upon the irregular day. Horse stock were in less than usual number, but sold fairly at late values. On account of the holiday, the usual sale of hides and skins was held on the Wednesday. Prices were without alteration. At] the private] sale of (.farming stock, held at Papatoetoe, there was good competition for fodder of all kinds, and the stock and implements commanded fair values. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cows were plentiful, and did not maintain late values; $Store 'cattle, in" limited numbers, were withoutfalteratiomin price. lat cattle, in average supply, sold irregularly, but on the whole at improved values. lat "sheep, in full numbers, principally ewes, fully maintained late values, and a draft of 200 wethers averaged lis Gd. Calves, abundant, sold fairly well. Fat lambs required, 9* to 10s each obtained for those brought forward. Pigs, unusually plentiful, but were required, and fully maintained late values. ■ Messrs' Hunter and Nolan s Report.— Horses: The holidays caused a very small supply to be brought forward, but quite sufficient for requirements. No noteworthy alteration in value. Below an average number were entered for disposal by auction at the Durham Yards on Saturday. Bidding was slow, and many lots remained uncleared. Prices nominal. Wool, hides, and skins: Small supply, and steady demand. We quote : Ox hide, from 3£ to 4kl per lb ; cow hides, to 3-Jd : skins, Is 7d to 3s lid each ; wool, to ; tallow, lis to 14s the cwt. Cattle: The spurt in the previous week's prices of fat beasts was not sustained, but for well fatted oxen there was but a very slight decline in value ; in other descriptions it was more marked. Dairy and stores are unaltered. The butchers' pens at Newmarket were well filled on Wednesday, on which day the market was held, on account of the holidays, but dairy and store stock were poorly represented; but there was a good muster of the latter at Pukekohe on the same day, for which the prices ruling at the central market were given. We quote: —Calves, from 10s to 20s; yearlings, from 15s to 275; grown steers, from £2 to £3 10s ; dry cows, from 20s to £2 17s Gd ; springers, from £4 to £(> 15s; strippers, £2 to £3 ss. Sheep: A good many were penned at Newmarket on Wednesday. The competition was steady throughout the sale, but values receded as compared with the previous week. Wethers sold at from 8s Gd to 14s; ewes, from 7s 6d to 10s 9d ; stores, 4s to 6s 9d ; lambs (very scarce and inferior) sold at from 3s to 10s. Pigs : Scarce, demand steady at from 2d to 3d per lb., live weight, for good sorts; inferior, AUCKLAND MARKET QUOTATIONS.
