MALAPROPOS.
One of Melbourne's most respected members of the cloth was recently very ill, so ill in fact that the medical men " gave him up " several times. However, Mother Nature was kind to him,, and he recovered his usual health. When convalescent he called on oue of, his congregation, and the latter's daughter opened the door of the house to admit him. She was so surprised at seeing his revereuce that she, quoting the poet Laureate unintentionally with good effect, exclaimed, " Well Mr , you here ! Why, you are really ' back from the jaws of death; back from the mouth of hell.'" The minister, considerably surprised, replied, " Well, I hope not back from the mouth of hell," which made matters even worse.— " Atticus " in the Leader.
