Desperado, however, went to the front, and turning into the straight the first time passed Lochiel, and by the time the grandstand wa« reached showed no less than a dozen lengths in front. After him came Phaon, All Gold, Arsenal, Satyr, and Trident. Nelson had fallen back, and Grace Darling was lost. Passing the abattoirs, at the back of the course, Abuse had displaced Desperado, and assumed the lead, Nelson, Trident, Arsenal, and All Gold in a bunch together, with Phaon and Satyr close behind.
