It if understood that terms have been arranged between the Uuion Steamship Co, and the Westport Colliery Co, by which the output of the coal from the Westport Colliery will in future be entirely in the hands of the Westport Coliery Co while all sea transport will bs under the management of the Union Co. The Kawatiri, "Wareta, and Orowaiti, heretofore running as the Westport Colliery Co. uessels, wiil in future fly the Union flag, and be under the management of that Company, which will act as agents for them. Detective Campbell will obtain the £30 reward prescribed by the Act for the capture of escaped convicts. The Minister of Justice intends to arrange if possible to have an early sitting of the Court of Appeal to consider Hall's case, instead of waiting until May. It is understood the Chief Justice is favourable to this course.
The Old Soldiers Claims Commissioners have finished their report and forwarded it to the Governor. It will be found that very few of the 1600 odd claims have received favourable consideration.
