LATEST FROM THE GOLDFIELDS.
(BY TKLEGIIAPH. — OWN CORItHSPONDENT.) Patsroa, Monday. The following is the account of the Crown orushings at liailey's, given me by the manager to-day Amalgam from the plates, 42ozs; ditto from the settlers and pans, 3350y.5. This shows that upwards of eight times the quantity of amalgam was saved by Railey's process, namely, the Maekay's pans as against the old process. The net bullion is 7(>ozs. sdwt. parcels of the same dirt crushed at the Ivanhoe Company's battery, Karangaliake, Firth and Clark's returns per ton respectively, 4ozs. lOdwts., and 2ozs. 10 dwts.
Tenders for clearing the line of tramway to the new mill were opened to-day by the chairman of the county council. That of Joseph Kelly was accepted at £(i 10s per chain.
The mill is now at work on Woodstock dirt. This will be followed by Monastery, Rose, Diamond, Dubbo, Leamington, and other claims crushing, each of which may be relieved on as likely to give A 1 returns.
