Wo sold on account of Mossrs Russell and M"rrin 91 sp',y««l cows and heifers from £1 17-s (id to £2 10-i, and 71 grown fttuers at from £3 7s> to £3 We. Very few other cattle were sold. B;;ef dull of sale and made from £3 10-* to £-1 15s for cows. Shec-p : few yaidrd. Sold two petiH merino wethers at 2s Id ; Two pens lambs at Gs 10 I: and 7* Od ; and one pun fat ewes at B<. At WiiitoM on Thursday the yards wen; tilled with a lot of good cattle. Little busino-in done, in-aily all the cattle being passed for higher value*. S >ld readily g>>od fat heifers at fc3 ss. Shoop: yards wore Wind with lambs, fat wethers and ewes. None sold. Auckland live stock markets. Mr Alfred Bucklan'd's Wkekly Report.—At tho Hiiyinavket on Friday last, although a largo number of horses were yarded, there was a general disinclination to business, and not many "ales wern effected, a few of thoiu at late values, but inauy at very low prices. At thrt weekly sale of hides, skius mid tallow on Tuesday, very little was brought forward. Hides ruled from 2d to 3j|d the lb ; skins from lid to 2s 4d each ; tine wool, 7d tho lb ; tallow, 10a the cwt. At the wool Hale held on Wednesday, January 5, 154 bales and as many parcels were offered. There was a full attendance of buyers, but bidding was slow, and prices ruled about the lb less than at the sec aid sale huld early in December. Prices for longwunls ranged from 0d to 6.W ; crossbred, G.-Jd to (if d ; merino, to 7*; lambs'wool, to 7d the lb. At Keinnera, on Thursday, every description of stock was fully rtipre.senti'd. Dairy cows at profit were in demand, and better worth than for several weeks. Store cattle, scarcely saleable ; fat cattle, in full numbers, sold dull at late values; g< md steers, from 15s to 17s the lOOlbs.; cows, from 12s upwards. Fat sheep, in limited number, were better worth from Is to 2s each. Lambs, abundant, were (unless of prime quality) at lower values; calves were also more numerous than usual, and scarcely maintained late values. Pig-s in full numbers, obtained late prices, and a few store sheep s>ild freely. Messrs Hunteb and Nolan's Wkekly Report.—Horses: The supply ot ordinary horseflesh has not been so large as.on the previous week, hut still ample for requirements, and changed hands with little or no alteration in value. The annual blood stock sales have attracted a good deal of attention, and a good many have been disposed of at satisfact'Ty prices. At the Durham Yards, on Friday, an average number were disposed of by auction, and although itrices fluctuated considerably, there was little alteration in the average value. At the New Zealand Stud Company's annual sale at Sylvia Park there was a large attendance of buyers through out the s.iln, and all the lots were cleared al satisfactory prices, which have bean already published. The.ro was a, trood turn out at Glenora on Thursday. The Musket-Yat-terina colt was knocked down to Mr Chirnside for 700 guineas, and the MusketHippiiriua 250 guineas. Thn opening sale of blood stock at Green Lane was also successful. All lots advertised were disposed of. The Anteros-Vivaudiero colt, realised 200 guineas, and the LeolinusPunga were were colt 175 guineas. Wool, hides and skins : Owinsr to the holiday there was but a short supply, consequently ■we held no auction sale, but there was n» noteworthy alteration in value. Cattle: A good many have been yarded. The demand was steady, but prices had no upward tendency. There was an average muster at Newmarket on Tuesday and tho yards were crammed at Papakura on Wednesday. There was a good attendance of buyers, but prices were on an average 5s per head lower than on the previous month. Well-tatted steers were ss, per head higher in value; cows and plain steers at last week's values ; dairy cows receded slightly in value. Fat sheep were yarded in full numbers, and sold at last week's prices. Lambs were in {,'ood supply and corresponding demand. Pigs in average supply, demand good.
