FATAL RESULT OF A DEBAUCH
(BY TkLKOFIAI'H— PRESS ASSOCIATION. | Napier, Thursday. A fikk broke out in a small house near tlk public school in Shakespeare nad at. 1 a.m. to-day. The house was occupied by a family na<ned Freelian as a boarding hou<-. : for labourers. The back of the building was discovered to be on fire by a passer bv, who, failing to nw the inmates, ran to th nearest fire bell. Both town and Spit brigade were soon on the scene, but by thi time the house was gutted an j wrapped in flames. The fire, however, was confined t<: one dwelling house. As soon as possible an entrance was effected, when the worsv fears were realised. The bodies of twi. men, fearfully mutilated, were discovered huddled together. One was recognised atho proprietor, the other being that of ;i labourer named Kelly. Mrs Freehan and family left town to visit some friends in tin country yesterday. Both men were drinking; over night.
