Harcourt, for the purpose of discussing the Irish question, and endeavouring to discover a basis which will bo acceptable to both Mr Parntill and Mr Chamberlain. January 4. It is stated that Lord Iddesleigh and Lord Cross will resign their appointments in the Ministry, and that the Ministry will be reconstructed as follows: — Mr W. H. Smith, First Lord of the Treasury and leader of the Commons. Lord Salisbury, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. Lord Northbrook, Secretary of State for India.
