TkAroha, Wednesday. The Wesleyan Circuit quarterly meeting was held on Monday at the residence of Mr Henry Buttle, Annandale, the Rev. H. Bull, President of Conference, occupying 1 the chair. There was als>o present the Rev. T. A. Joughin, (resident minister), Messrs Buttle, of Piako, Philips, Paeroa, Warren and Whitbnrn, Morrinsville, Devey, Te Aroha and James, Te Aroha West. A considerable amount of business was transacted. The finan.ci.il report for the quarter showed a small debit balan.co, and th,e report on the state of the Sunday schools was regarded as very encouraging. The question of having a married minister appointed for Te Aroha was discussed, but the matter w.is allowed to stand over fur further consideration. A unanimous wish was expressed that in tho event jf auoh an appointment not being made the Rev. Mr Joughin should remuiu in the district another year. It was resolved that hencpforward there should be fortnightly services held at Waioronfifomai. Tho following appointments were made:—Messrs Philips and Buttle, circuit .stewards ; Me«si's Darby and Lovell, respecti\ely, society ai;d sacrament gtQwards for Waiorongotnai; and Mi* H. buttlo lay representative to the annual conference. A unanimous vote of thanks was passed to the late circuit stewards. Messrs White and Tetley. It wa* decided to hold the next quaiterly meeting at Paeroa. In the discussion which followed several speakers took part, the proposal to borrow bom.? supported by some of the Gordon settlers, and opposed by a fe>v of the neighbouring farmers. A poll t'> determine whether the loan shall or shall not be raised will bo taken on the 2!)th- instant. Tv answer to inquiries as to whether there would be more than one place for voting, Mr Muipfiy stated that in all probability there would be a pollingplare at Waiorongoniai. A very successful gift auction and Christmas tree was held in the Hall yesterday, in aid of the building fund of S. Joseph's Roman Catholio Church. The attendance, especially in the evening, was very large, ami a lively busine-s was done by the ladies under whose management the aftair was conducted, viz., Mesdames Gallagher, Byrno, li\ie<«, Sinithe, and others. The Aroha Bliss Band m.i« jjresent throughout the evening, and added to thn attractions It is probable the auction will bo resumed on Boxing Day, as there is a considerable number of useful and beautiful articles still to be disposed of.
