Press Juniors v. Hamilton Schools.

This match came off on Thursday last, on Sydney Square, Hamilton, and was won hands down by the Knights of the Font by 27 runs. The bowling of Salmon and Andrew proved too much for the school boys in the Ist innings, and sent them to the rightabout for 18 runs, though they were assisted by a crack from the Auckland Grammar School. The P.D.s responded with 45, having previously put up 4G on the telegraph board. The advocates of the birch made then their second essay, and, mainly by the help of Sago 19 (not out) and D. Gelling 10, put up 40. The other principal scorers were, in education talent : Napier Murray 6 and 4, and in typical : Keep 8 and 12, Andrew 8 and 8, Edwards 10 and 5, Peacock 9 (not out) and 2, while the bowling honours were divided between Fred, and Napier Murray and Sage for Education, and Salmon, Andrew, and Scorpio for Typography. The comparative smallness of the scores is to be accounted for by the fact that each side was short of its best men, and played only the tail of 8. Boyds wicket-keeping will, it is thought, bring the B's (Blackham and Bush) soon on a level with the P\s (Pinder, Phillips, Pilling, etc.), while Keep commended a record for the K's.
