THE WAIPA BACK-COUNTRY.
TO THE EDITOR. Srn, — T notice with pleasure that you are using your interest and giving the influence of your excellent journal on behalf of the residents of Ngaruawahia, re the opening of the country between that place and the hot springs near Raglan. Having lived in the Raglan district for the last ten years, I have a good knowledge of the country, intended to be o|>ened, and I can state without exaggeration that the land is well suited to the class of settlers the Government intends to put on it. The country, though somewhat broken, is excellent in quality, especially where the limestone crops up. It very much resembles the farfamed Mandate on Te Akau station. If those interested get the road made if will not only open up a good country, but I firmly believe it will open up a country full of copper, and that within four mile» of the Waipji, and on the intended line of road. Some of the creeks are so impregnated with tho mineral that the water is undrinkable. This, if properly worked, means prosperity to the Waikato generally. Apologising f<.r trespassing on your valuable space,— l am, Sir, yours obediently, Iv. H,
