THE AUCKLAND WOOLLEN FACTORY. A Warning Note.
TO THK EDITOK. Sir, —l see that the touts travelling on behalf of the Auckland Woollen Factory have persuaded you, and doubtless many othera, that the Southern factories aio a great success, the truth being that in two instances to my knowledge, namely, the Kaiapoi and Ahhburton factories they were a glorious and undoubted f.ulute, the capital being almost entirely lost, and new companies formed on the ruins of the old ones getting a splendid plant in each case at a nominal sum. The Kaiapoi factory paydividends, but the Ash burton one, though it had the immense advantage of getting a splendid tun^ ut at a \ery small figuie, last year maie the wondeiful profit of a , little over £200 ! Havu our farmcis not yet had enough of Auckland companies ?— I am yours faithfully, Cu\s. Gouij>. Waitoa, Dec. 7th.
