The Observer to-day published » statement to tho effect that the British Government has intimated to Franco that it is nut pre[>nred to discuss the date of the evacuation of Egypt by the TJritiah forces, and it declines any proposal for internationalizing the Suez Canal, which would affect access to India via the Canal, or across the Isthmus of Sutz.
