The Zoological Society will give the South Australian Government two lions in exchange for the log hut exhibited at the Exhibition. The Northumberland Coal Company, with a capital of £200,003, i.s announced. The company will acquire the Kingsgate property, Newcastle, New South Wales at a cost of £100,000. The Mount Rmnie, New South Wale?, outrage h.is attracted some attention here ; and the sentence of death passed on nine of the perpetrators meets with general approval. Sir G. O. Trevslyan, having declined to contest the vacant seat, Mr Robertson (Conservative) has been elected to the House of Commons for Brighton, vice Mr D. Smith deceased. The Australian mails from Melbourne, dated October 21, were delivered yesterday via Brindisi. The New Zealand Shipping Co.'s R.M.s. Ruapehu arrived at Plymouth this miming, with her cargo of meat in good condition.
