CAMBRIDGE CRICKET CLUB.

A meeting of the members of the above club was held at Bach's Criterion Hotel, Cambridge, on Saturday last. There was a good attendance. Mr R. Kirkwood (vice president) in the chair. The Chairman said he was glad to find that the indefatigable extertions of their secretary, (Mr Longbottoin) had at last been rewarded, and although he had met with poor encouragement in his prior attempts to obtain a meeting, he had, like a good cricketer stuck to it, and had at last "scored." Many people thought that lawn tennis had "clean bowled" cricket this season and up to now wo must admit that it appeared as if it had done so. This we thought was due to the fair sex taking such an active part in it and thereby adding a loadstone to the tennis, that attracted many of the young cricketers. He trusted, however, they would still find a little tiipe to devote to the old game. The liabilities were small, the promises of subscriptions good, and they possessed a large quantity of all the requisite "tools" whiqh he was pleased to say were in first-class condition. Having all things necessary, it only remains for the young men to come to the front, and practise, to enable Cambridge to take its old stand in the cricketing world. Mr Longbottom presented a statement of accounts for the past year, in which the liabilities were £l2 5b Bd, and the subscriptions, kl 19s Bd, leaving a debit balance of £4 Os. On the motion of Mr W. S. Stewart, 'seconded by Mr M. Stubbing the statement was adopted. Mr Kirkwood vaoatgd the chair, and proposed Mr W. S. Stewart. Seconded by Mr Longbottom, and carried. The following gentlemen were unanamously elected as officers for the ensuing year ;— President, Dr. Waddington (reelected) ; Vice-presidents, the Mayor (Mr J. CJwynneth.) q,nd Major Wilson ; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. S. Stewart} committee, Messrs W. S. Stewart, Owen Garland, (i. Porter. J. Longbottom, S. Blchardson, Hiltop and Cox, four to form a quorum. Saturday was decided upon as a general practice d^V, the appointment of caretaker and several other matters being Jeffc $o the committee to decide.

Vote* of thanks were passed to Mr Jamca Taylor for the use of his roller, to the outgoing officers, especially MrJ. Longbottotn, and to the chairman. This closed the proceedings.
