RANGIAOHIA ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the board was held on Saturday, at 2 p.m. Present: Messrs \V. Taylor (chairman), J. B. Teasdale, G. Churches and U. Maunders. Long's Road. — Re Henry Long's claim for expenses upon the road he purchased some years ago, when the late Mr ttloane was chairman of the board, it was resolved that Mr Teasdale and Mr Churches wait upon Mr H. Long and ask him to show to them the original agreement and icceipt ; al&o to inspect the road, place a value upon it, with the view of coining to an understanding with Mr Long, or offering the road for sale in the event of not coining to a final agreement with him. Tnis work .should have been done last March or Apiil, but owing to til** contractors having so much work on their luiuN, and the lateness of the reason, the engineer thought it advisable to have the work postponed, and is now of opinion that thU woik might bo cauicd out on a larger scale and conjointly with the county road lying near it, a-= to do one without doing the other would be almost Use.le^s expifciditiuo. Rangiaohia Road neyr Mr Si'orkVs. — The levels have been taken on thi.s road but this work will not be carried out until the secretary makes a statement showing what funds ate available for further works. Thk Fuh/k Ni:i>\nck.-- It was resolved that all the gorse and briars on the public roads in the Rangiaohia distiict be removed at once or the board will take active .steps in the matter. Tkndkks. — The following tenders were received for ditching on tlw back lvihikihi mad :— Messrs Coicoran Bros and Keilly, 7s (id per chain ; Bcarsley and Webber, Sio/d; Thomas I'ower, ,'L f)d ; William (iisen, 2d lid. William Given* tender was accepted. Lows and Local Ijodji-:-..- -At the clo-ie (>f the meeting there was some discussion in reference to the ad\ isablenos^ of the board applying to tho Government, under the Local Bodies Loan Act, for a loan for this district, as there ore several bridges and culverts in a \ery dangerous condition. The board will decide in a few days if they will call a public meeting and have the opinion of the ratepiyers of the district upon this matter, and then if neccssaiy act tit oner, as the application must be made befoie the Ut of December. —(Correspondent).
