Thence he liopud to go to Qaetta by way of Cjndahar, but the Governor detained him and erentually sent him to Herat, and was then sent under escort to the Persian frontier. The attempt to tide across Afghanistan was thus bafH;d, Mr Stevens proposes to wheel himself to Lahore and to Calcutta, and then go by sea to Canton, to ride to Northern China on his bicycle, and tin illy tike ship tor Japan and America. — Court Circular.
