It is expected chat a field of 16 horses will compete, but it is feared that the pen will have to be run through Tasman's name, he having pulled up \ery lame after a gallop on Satuiday. This is greatly to be regretted, as he has met with a good deal of all-iound .-upport, and promised to strip in a better nick than ever he has in his life. This morning Nelson coveveJ a couple of miles m such good foim as to raise him in public estimation. He bids fair to lead in the betting before the flag falls. Waitiri and Aitillery also imptove every day.
