In a corner of a drawer, , I found it hid away ; But what 'twas put there for I could not, could not say — I thought, and thought, *nd thoughtj But thinking never brought Of meni'ry back one ray. hard and stiff with ago, And folded fiat and small ; .Could I but mern'ry page Turn back, and thus recallYet, stay ! A sudden gleam Of light! Ah, joy supreme ! I now can see it all ! Yes, clear I view the scene, 'Twas Mrs Greathop's ball And I, with Emeline, • Wds sitting in the hall : 'Twas twenty years ago— How time does onward flotr 1 Yes, aixty-five'slate fall. Tn a niche's quiet shade, Fierce unrequited love, To Emeline I made And stole away her glovo Which she by chance let fall Close by the staircase hall, As she went up above. Yes, this is it.
