AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS.
Mksshs HuNrER and Nolans Weekly Ricrour.— Horses : The market had continued fairly active at previous week's values, but few fre^h animals were brought forward. About the umuil number were submitted by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday, but with few exceptions puich<u.ers were forthcoming? for those offered. We quote :— Wool, hides, and s.kius : Th.c quantity brought forward has not beqn large, but the demand has been good. We quote : Hides from 3sd to 4d ; skins, from LN to 5s 3d ; wool, in bags, G^d to G/'l ; tallow, 11s to 133. Cattle : The number of fit stock brought forward has continued limited, but other descriptions plentiful. Well -fatted oxen advanced in value. The Newmarket yards wero again well-filled, but the pens were principally occupied by store*. Competition was good throughout t(ie -vilo. Dairy and btoro ntock weie unaltered in value, but there was an advance in fat beahts of 10.-, per head. Sheep were penned in full numbers, but there was an upward tendency in value, although 12s each, was the higher price obtained for shorn wethers ; ewes, from 8s b'd to 10> 3d. Laittbs, in average numbers, aold at from 3, (kl to 14< 9d. Pigs : Very few yaided, bu 1 " sold at low values. "Mu Alfrkd BucklantVs Weekly RkroKr.—At the Haymarket on Friday, October 20, prices for loose fodder were irregular, and at lower values, Prices ranged from Is 9d to 4s 3d the cwt., but wheaten straw maintained its late , value. Horse stock were forward in full number ; useful animals in fair inquiry. Medium draught brought from £12 to £21, but undersized stock were at nominal prices. On Tuesday hides fairly maintained late values, ranging in price from 3A to 4gd the lb ; calfskins, 4^d ; tallow, Us (id to 12s <)d the cwt : fnll-wooled sheepskins, 4s to Da each ; inferior, from Is upwards ; licit*, lid each. At the regular cattle sale at Pukekohe on Monday, there was a full muster of stock of all descriptions, and a free sale throughout. At Renmera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were in full number. For good animals, competition was better than at last week's sale, medium and inferior dull of sale, store cattle of all classes abundant. Prices wore lower than of late. Fat cattle in average supply were better than ot late. Fat cattle in average supply were better worth, and bidding was free. Prices ranged from 20s to 23s the lOOlbs. Fat sheep in less than usual mumber obtained no improvement in value. Lambs numerous and sold well ; good quality from 10s to 15s ; inferior, from 5s ani upwards. Porkers were also in request at full values.
