ALPHA Y. TE AROHA NEWS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, — Will ymi Kindly allow me space for the enclosed letter in your paper, it liavingr been refused by our local medium, and greatly oblige.— Yours faithfully, A. H. Wj-'itehouse. Te Avoha, November Ist.

(To the Editor Tr Aroha News.) Sir,— Th« inferences and insinuations contained in your refusal to publish "Alpha's" letter compel me in justice to niy.self to risk a second refusal, and to state that "Alpha's" letter was the "first effusion," I have, penned over since the Aroha News had an existance, and that 1 claim the paternity of the article without any assistance from " friends." lam quite content to leave it to the public to judge wherein exists tfcef " impertinence" or who betrays the more "malice," me in stating undeniable facts or you in your, unwarrented inferences ; and further L lam quite willing to remain "small and uniform rather than be so ungainly anu »ut of proportion as to be so lopsided in Tiy views. Of co'lrse your manner is excessive * funny (excuse the irony) wherein you try * let the public* know who "Alpha" is, pau >ilarly, as the public know how well t. humourous vein becomes you. Had you, sir, been content to give, simple refusal I would not now be troubling your columns, but when from behind the bulwoik of proprietary you throw out inferences when (to put it mildly) you had no leason to behave there was any shadow of truth to back them up, and thus evincing the courage of a literary giant, I claim the ri{?ht to reply in self-defence and subscribe myself, yours faithfully, J A. H. Whitehou.se.

These requests, in a year, amount to more than six thousand ; and a* each porson wants on the average about $1000, the annual demand is for more than $0,000,000 (£1,500,000). Messrs W. J. Hunter and Co. will sell at Ohaupo on Tuesday, November 16th, 1000 Iwad of gattlo as per list in advertisement.
