The Engineer ie,poited that no tender h.id been received for the ti-tree cutting contract at Ngaruawahia. — The chairman remarked that it was evident there were no unemployed m tho Waikato.— Mr A. Bruce Suttor wrote drawing the board's attention to the state of the culvert on the board's portion of the Eureka avenue road. It was too narrow for the purpose, and he hop»d the board wi'iild give it their atteutiou. — The Engineer was aulhoiised to effect the requited improMMii'Mii - with the labour of the Mirfumnw. — Tho Engineer reported that Nicolhb' ; dgo m.'<ir Xjfiruaw.ihia on the river load could bu impaired at a cos>t of, say, £2\, as it wa-> in a \oiy bad ht.ite.— The Cliairiiian v/as of opinion that it would be better to buiM a new bridge.— Mr Lovell was of the chaiini.m's opinion, a great deal ot tliu old timber could be worked up into the now structure. — After some fuither discussion, the engineer was authoiised to make an estimate of the cost of a ni'w bridge, and if it could be built fwr less than £40 to call for tenders. — The Engineer wrote. intimating that in view of tho decreased expenditure he could no longer continue to do tho board's work under the old an alignment, which was l\ per cent, on all e\ penditure.
