Let thy thoughts soar amid the stars, Or high as human miiftl can go : Strive for a glimpse of the shining bars Of light, that fall from heaven's glow : And let thy soul forever dwell On noblo acts and lofty themes, And thy enraptured accents tell. What thou hast learned in waking dreams : Bat, oh, while thou dost try the wings Of fancy, in ethereal flight, Forget not there are earthly things That need thy care and loving might. For if tby deeds do not accord, With thy sublime, exalted thought, 'Twera bettor thou hadst uever soared, Nor had for iight and knowledge sought.
