Girths to be either double, or single girth with two buckles. Entrance, ss. CIGAR AND UMBRELLA RACE. Distance, once round course. Horses to be ridden without saddles. Competitors to provide cigars, and umbrellas not less than three feet in diameter. Competitors to stand at starting point, dismounted, umbrellas closed, and cigar unlighted. At sound of bugle, cigar to be lighted, umbrella opened, competitor to mount and nde away. Cigar to be alight and umbrella open on passing winning-post, otherwise rider to be disqualified. First prize, 20s ; 2nd prize, 10s. Entrance, 3s.

Sports to commence at 12 noon. First horse race at 12.30, other horse races at intervals of three-quarters of an hour. Foot sports will be run off between the horse races. No entries will be received except upon the condition that all protests and disputes arising shall be settled by the stewards, or whom they may appoint. All protests in connection with any of the horse races to be accompanied with a deposit of 1 soy., and for foot races ss, such deposits to be forfeited should the protest be deemed frivolous or vexatious. Entries for foot and other sports to be made with Mr Gresham on the ground. All entries and acceptances must be accompanied with the necessary cash. Nominations for Hurdle and Cup Handicaps with name., age, colour and sex of horse, and colours of ruler to be sent to the secretary at Te Awamutu, on Thursday 21st October. Weights to appear in The Waikato Times, of Saturday 23rd iust. Acceptances close on Tuesday 2Gth with the Secretary. Any jockey riding in colours other than those entered, will be fined 1 soy.
