Some ei^ht days previous to this witness told Detective OBrien th.'t thtne were home very peculiar looking a-.hes in the Hre-pLice in the cottage, and Detective OBrien told him to see that they were not disturbed. Evidence was given as to the prisoner having given birth to a female child in August last, but Dr. Garland could not determine tho sex ot the murdered child from the remains, and could not my what weapon was user! to inflict the wounds. It might have been a sharp spade or tomahawk shown. Dr. Garland said the wounds might have been inflicted with either, but thought with the Hjiade. The inquest stands adjourned until Wednesday next.
