AUCKLAND DIOCESAN SYNOD.
The last session of the eleventh synod of the diocese was opened on Wedne&day. Holy Communion was celebrated at S. Matthew's in the morning, and in the evening, there was a full choral service at All Saint*. The J3i*hop, in the course of his address, which wiw a somewhat lengthy document, dealt with various matters affecting the welfare of the church and the diocese. He dwelt upon the need for promoting Christian unity, and the necessity for devoting time and attention to the religious instruction of the young. A considerable amount of business chiefly of a loutine character was got through subsequently. Amongst the clergy present were the Yen. Archdeacon Willis, (Cambridge) ; the Rev. R. O'C. Biggs, (Hamilton): and R. G. Boler, (Te Awamutu). Mr R. F. Sandes represented the laity of S. Peter's. Mr T. Wells, who occupies the post of synodsinan for Cambridge, was unable to be present, and sent an apology. The pittinga continued on Thursday, when the main object wa« the necessity f<>r putting the financial machinery of the church, xn all its branches in a more satisfactory state,
