Sin Patrick Jennings, the Premier of New South Wales, in reply to Mr Gillies' proposal considers 4.20,000 inadequate as a joint contribution by the colonies to the proposed Imperial Institute, and recommends that i.30,000 or .£40,000 should be subscribed. '1 he South Australian Government have expressed their inability to increase its proportion of the £20,000 proposed by Mr Gillies. The Victorian Government suggest that the municipalities should contribute to the Institute.

Sydney, October 15. A communication from Sir Robert Stout to Mr Suttor, Post-mater-General, has been published, in which the New Zealand Premier states his Government hope to come to a decision this week regarding the Australian and New Zealand cable question.
