THE WAIKATO HOSPITAL DISTRICT.
It will be remembered that at the meeting of representatives of local bodies held at Hamilton on the 32nd of last month resolutions were passed asking the Government to h\ the representation of a now district of Waikato so as to give two members each to Piako, Waikato and Wai pa counties and one each to the boroughs of Hamilton and Cambridge and the county of Raglan, and that the Ist Wednesday in November, be fixed for the election and the 3rd Wednesday in December, for the fir&t meeting ot the new board. The Mayor of Hamilton, as chairman of the meeting has received the following reply from the Government :—: — Premier's Office, Wellington, 7th October, 1886. Sir, — I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of yom 1 letter of the 29th ult., transmitting copy of a resolution adopted at a meeting of delegates from the counties and boroughs constituting the Waikato Hospital Districts, and in reply am directed by the Premier to inform your Worship that the representation on the board recommended therein shall be adopted. As legards the other recommendations, I am sorry to say that until the question of fixing dates for the meetings of the local authorities and of the boaids generally has been more considered, the Premier is unable to promise definitely to give effect to them, but that, if possible, they shall be given effect to also.— T have the honour to be, Sir, your obedient servant, K.
