Messrs Mokt and Co., Limited, report under date, Sydney, September 29th :— Wool. — Notwithstanding the vapid and substantial rise in values of tins staple at the June bevies of sales in London, estimated at 15 to 25 per cent., as compared with the low values of the pieceding sale*, there was a still more important movement ut pi ices at the opening of the cuncnl nevies, estimated as equal to a further rise ol I** to 20 per cent., and there has been rmpiovement since to the extent of an additional 5 per cent. Our private messages up to this point have been of a most satisfactory chai actor ; but latest cablegrams quote a slight weakness in the market, and it is po^ible .some of the advance gained may be lost before the scries closes on 2nd October. At our sale on Friday, 24th instant, we had a ciowded attendance, including a number of foreign buyers, and th" sale passed off vvithgteat spirit. Biddings weie vigoious for every lot, and pi-ices showed an advance of fully 30 to 35 per cent, over the opening rates of last season, (iretsy fleece reached lid, country scoured Hee'ce l!)d, and scoured skimvool 18}:dperib. The principal line consisted of 375 bales of the tirlenaritf clip, which realised as follows :— 7O bales combing iioggtts, 10d ; 30 bales combing wethers, 9W ; 00 bales combing ewes, 9|d ; 29 bales clothing hoggets and wethers, 9d ; 98 clothing ewes, B}d ; 23 bales ewes, 71d ; 9 bales combing rams, S.fd ; 5 bales clothing rams, 7jd ; 21 bales pieces, 7jd per lb. Grain.— Maize : In the early part of the month business was done at 3s Id to 3s 2d, but several vessels with supplies being bar bound, the market advanced for the time, but immediately receded on vessels being set tree, and best samples are now to be obtained at 3s 5d per bushel, at which figure we di \ business at auction this week. — Oats aie m plentiful supply and best may be quoted at from 2s 5d to 2s 8d for feed, inferior 2s to 2s 4d per bushel. — Wheat : Heavy arrival* fiom California have checked advance in price. Best New Zealand m iv now be quoted at from 4s to 4s 4d per bushel. Some of the country millers are still replenishing stocks from the metropolis. — Bran is in brisk request at from Is to Is Id per bushel. — Pollard lid per bushel.
