OHINEMURI GOLDFIELD.

[PROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Karangahake. Paeroa, Tuesday. A NEW find that promises remarkably well has been discovered by Messrs Walsh, Stone and McWilliams near the boundary of the Ivanhoe mine. The quality of the stone from the place is first-class. Should it turn out as expected, there will be no difficulty in getting the dirt to a battery, which is the main drawback to the success of new finds in this difficult country, as the Ivanhoe Company's mill is scaicely a pistol shot away. Nkw Qu.vurz Reduction Works, (Limited. )—This plant may now be considered finished. All that remains to be done is to put the finishing touch to the water race. The Pelton wheel (about a7O hor.se power motor) will be started next week to test matters. It is expected that Hon. Mr Larnaoh, Minister of Mines, will be through the field shortly, when it is proposed to ask him for a subsidy for a connecting tramway. Crown.—lt is stated that a contrasting test of 20 tons will be sent from this mine to the Ivanhoe battery, and to the new plant as soon as the latter starts. Adeline. —The recent return of nearly G oz. to thft ton is extremely satisfactory ; 10 tons were crushed for 970z. retorted gold, and nearly 50 tons go to the Thames per Kotuku on Thursday for reduction. Sutro.—The winze sinking is now resumed as the level is up to the point where the winze should be intersected. The policy of most of the mines is Taihoa at present until the new plant starts. The mining inspector will be around this week, however, and will probably forfeit somo of the claims if not sufficiently manned.

Waihi. Silverton.—The manager is stoping near the winze in the low level, from which point some grand stone is coming to grass. So soon as the dry weather fairly sets in the sinking of the winze below the floor of the level will be continued. Union.—2o head of stampers are working on fair dirt at the Martha battery. There will probably be a continuous supply of quartz from this mine to the battery for some months. The plates warrant a better than a\ erage return. A good deal of fossicking and prospecting is going on in the Waiteksiuri distnct.

General News. It is not iiTiprpJbable that a Native Lands Court will be held atOhinemuri at an early date. The court sits at the Thames on the 21st inst., and may possibly adjourn to Paeroa.
