Homo stock were yarded in less number than average, but there was a better ' disposition shown to purchase, and prices \v ore-firmer, tl\e draught mares advertised brought £10 each. At the hide and skin salo on Tuesday prices were firm, prices for hides ranged f rom 2.^d to 3^ ; calfskins, 4d per Ib ; greeu ox hides, 19s Gd and 22s each. At the cattle sale at W.iiuku on Saturday last, a full muster of cattle of all kinds were yarded, and met with a steady demand throughout. Relatively dairy cows were at low values, young'cattlem better inquiry. At Pukekohe, on Monday, the yards were scarcely able to contain the stock, and there was a full attend uico of the neighbouring settlers. Stoi u c ittle generally were lower in price than at Wamku, but consequent on the opening of the Cheese Factory, dairy cows weio u/l, brisk demand. At Remuera on Tlnusday dairy cattle were in better inquiry than last week, well bred cows being fieely competed for up to £7 each, but inferior quality were slow of sale. Store cattle in full number, a large number of steers from two to four yours old were yaided ; they were freely competed for, and grown cittle were 5s each higher than of Lite. Young cattle were at lake values. Fat cattle, penned in average numbers, scarcely maintained Lite values. Steers of prime quality brought from 18s to 20s the lOOlbs; but second quality were at 16s. Fat calves, numerous, maintained late values. A few pens of store sheep sold relatively at high values, but fat sheep were lower than last week above 2s each, showing a fall in values of 4s to 5s each in the two last markets, occasioned by the large numbers received from the Coast. Fat lambs were more numerous than hitherto, but th« demand for them is increasing, and prices were fully sustained. Pigs were in better inquiry, particularly well-bred stores, but prices for all descriptions were higher than for several markets. \fKssns Hunter and Nolans Wkkklt RhPoiir. — Horse-? : The improvement noted last week has continued and intensified, and there i« an evident opening for a few good horses, as would-be luiyeia could not obtain suitable animals, e\eu at ad\auced prices. The Durham yauls weio fairly supplied on Friday, but many more would ha\e found purchasers at prices satisfactory to the vendor. No wool or tallow offered. Cattle : A great many of all descriptions have been brought forwaid, and found purchasers. There was an upward tendency in the value of stores, but little or no alteration in fat and dairy stock. The first cattle fair of the season was held on Monday at our Papakura Yards, when, owing to the large muster of stock their capacity was tested to the utmost. There was a good attendance of buyers, and prices for two and three year old .sheep advanced ; other descriptions j were at the previous week's values. There was a good muster at Newmarket on Tuesday, and steady competition throughout the sale, and again a large number were yarded at the usual monthly sale Jit Papakura on Wednesday. We quote : Calves 1 , at from lGs to 2 Is, yearling, 22s Gd to 33s ; 18months to two-year-old steers, £3 10.s to £[ss; dry cows, from £2 to £4; dairy cows, from £1 10> to £10; beef, lo.s to 20d per lOOlbs ; or oxen, from £8 to £10 7s 6d ; sU'eis, £5 to £7 10s; cows, £4 15s to <T> 12s Gd. Sheep: There was a good muster ;it Newmaiket on Tuesday, and puce-, were firm, competition being spirited throughout. We quote : Fat wethers in vool, at from 15s to 17s Gd ; shorn, from lls Gd to 12s !)d ; fat ewes (shorn), 10s to lls !)d t fat lambs, from 7s to lGs. Pigs : A good many yarded, and those of a good description sold well at from 2d to 3d per lb (live weight).
