THE STARK SCANDAL.

[by telegraph.— own correspondent.] Auckland, "Wednesday. The Stark Purchase Commissioners held a meeting yesterday, at which they arranged their mode of procedure. Mr Brewer (Government L.P.0.), and Mr Thos. Seaman (Government valuer for Waitemata), ! have been cited to present themselves for examination, and all other persons who are in possession of material evidence are invited to come foiward. Mr Button, as pre\ iously announced, has been engaged to watch the proceedings on behalf of the Government, and the Stark Vigilance Committee, of winch 1). Goldie is permanent chairman and D. S. Chamber's societary, are engaged in working up what may not inaptly be termed the case for the prosecution. They ha\e aheady retained Mr Theo. Cooper to act on their behalf, and both he and Mr Chambers, and probably Mr Goldie as well, will regularly attend the sittings of the commission, whose first public sitting will open on Monday ne\t at 10 a.m. The vigilance committee are already prepared to biing forward no less th. n 2o witnesses. Mr Brewer has received from the Government intimation of the acceptance of his resignation, which was sent in by him some time apo in consequence of implied reflection* thrown upon him by Ministers during the recent session of Parliament.
