The French barque Glaneuse, 481 tons, from Chareute to Melbourne, with a cargo of spirits, has gone ashore at Point Lonsdale, Port Philip Heads, and is in a critical position. The Hauroto arrived yesterday afternoon. Sydney, October 2. A reduction in the military expenditure of the colony is being effected, and a number of the permanent force are being dispensed with. New Zealand wheat is 4s 2d per bushel.
