[by telegraph— phess association. I NAPIER, Saturday. Mr Burnett has concluded a most successful week's mission. Six hundred pledges have been taken. He left to-day for Gisborne. Monday. A man named Brondfield was seriously injured to-day. He was engaged in moving a cottage when it capsized on him, his ribs and arm being crushed, and his head badly injured. His arm has since been amputated.
CHRISTCHURCH. Sunday. Sir R. Stout arrived from Dunedin by express train last night, and will return on Monday or Tuesday. The annual horsp parade of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held yesterday. The entries showed a consideiable falling off, only 25 horses being present, and the quality not above the average. The chess match by telegraph between Christchurch and Timaru continued last night. Christchurch won three and Timaru one. Of the six unfinished games Christchurch will probably win two, and Timaru three ; one is doubtful.
DUNEDIN, Saturday. There are eleven prisoners, with fifteen charges, awaiting trial at the criminal sessions. Seven are charges of larceny, one of rape on a child, two of forgery, two of sheep stealing, and two of passing base coin.
