MILITARY EMEUTE IN MADRID. REPUBLICAN DEMONSTRATION. Flight of the Mutineers. [BY TELEGRAPH— COPYRIGHT.] [REUTERS TELEGRAMS.] [Received September 22nd, 2.30 p.m.] Madrid, September 21.
Serious disturbances occurred in this city, to-day, arising out of a movement in favour of the establishment of a republic for Spain. A small portion of the Madrid military garrison revolted in support of a Republic and marched through the principal streets. The authorities promptly called out a foroe of Royalists, who attacked the rebels and fired, killing two officers. The remainder, finding that they were not supported by the populace or other troops, proceeded in haste to the railway station, where they seized a train and*" fled from the city. Madrid has been declared to be in a state of siege.
