Dl SKMN, Saturday. Thk ground wvs in capital condition for the football in.itch N.S.W. v. Otago, though the visitors appeared to find it a little slippery. Sh.iw, the capt.un of the Sydney team, was able to play for his side. The weather was excellent, and the attendance large. The game turned out to be very onesided, as the visitor-* were everywhere overmatched. It was full of incident ,b the score made slunv,-, but the incidents were too onesided to make the game e\ citing. Five minutes- after play commenced Miller potted a goal for Otago, and .mother followed when the play had extended o\ei seventeen minutes Bee kicking it. Before a half-hour was over Thomson secured a try, which Bee converted into a goal, at half time the score being: Otago, 13 points ; Sydney, nil. Twelve minutes from the start of the second spell Strong secured a try, and Bee. kicked another croa.l. Xot long after Morris .secured a try, Bee again placing a goal. The Sydney men made strenuous efforts to prevent another score and succeeded, but were haul pressed, and the game ended with Otago, 23 ; Sydney, nil. The Sydney men aie entertained at a smoke concert to-night, and another team play against them on Monday.

Dvn edin\ Monday. The match between the New South Wales team and the .second Otago team, excluding all who played in the former match, took place to-day, and the visitors were again defeated by nine points to nil. The ground was in fair order, though greasy from the showers which fell since, but did not last long. The attendance was good, considering the weathei. Drabble, who won the toss, played with the wind, and the Otago forwards from the outset proved their superiority, notwithstanding the brilliant play of ;Shaw, Caird, Colquhoun, Shortua, Me Arthur, and other Sydney men, and the ball was nearly always in the \isitors' territory, and they were forced down several times. Otago at last got a try, which Drabble converted into a goal. In the second spell, with the wind, Sydney had nearly always the worst of it, and Otago scored again by Hope potting a goal, the game ending without the visitors scoring. The individual play of the \ isitors was wonderfully good, but they again showed lack of combination.
