THE PROPOSED SLAUGHTERYARDS FOR HAMILTON.

As already announced, the Mayor of Hamilton has given notice of his intention to move at the next meeting of the council that steps be taken for the erection of public abbatoirs at Hamilton, with a view to the establishment of a dead meat trade with Auckland. It tins been objected by some that the site proposed, near the Hamilton West railway station iv unsuitable, as the slaughter-yards would create a nuisance. Mr Graham accordingly put himself in communication with Mr Joseph Banks. His telegram and the reply thereto are given below, and speak for themselves :— [copy.l To J. Banks, Esq., Auckland. Objections raised against Hamilton slaughter- yards ; fear that such would prove injurious to health or offensive. Have stated opinion to myself expressed that such fear is entirely groundless with properly constructed yards, and that Hamilton is most suitable for public slaughter-yards. W. A. Graham. To W. A. Graham, Esq., Mayor of Hamilton. There can be no two opinions a<* to the the entire absence of nuisance with properly constructed abbatoirs, as proved at Chicago, Liverpool, and many other place*. In my opinion there is no better site than Hamilton in the Waikato. J. Banks.
