BOYCOTTING IN LEITRIM.
A shocking boycotting outrage is reported from the vicinity of Ballinamorc, county Lei trim. A nhopkeepor who had entered into possession of a farm to obtain repayment of a debt due to him by the previous occupant, a farmer, now gone to America, wits severely boycotted, but a woman named Golden ventured, in disregard of the boycotting 1 rule, to becomo purchaser of a sack of meal from him. For this her house wns visited at night by men, who firod shots, savagely beat a man named Egnn, seized tind scattered the saok of meal, tore up some clothes she had spread to bleach on the green, and warned her that, should they have to come again, they would kill her.
In a drawn match between Gloucester and Nottingham in June, Shrewsbury, for the latter county, played a splendid innings for 227 (not out) out for a total of 430. He went in first, and carried his bat right through, being at the wicket eleven hours and three-quarters. He thus beat his best previous record -224 (not out). Grace, for the other side, also carried out his bat for 92.
Onk of the finest pieces of lace ever seen in England was shown at the Edinburgh Exhibition. It consists of a huge counterpane, more than two yards square, in point de VtSnise, and of extreme beauty and richness of design. It was made about a hundred years ago for the reigning Pope, and it occupied two or three lifetimes in the working. A few years ago it found its way back to the Koyal Lace Factory at Venice, whence it was added to the collection of Mr Stuart Samuel, of London.
