We have been requested to republish the following exquisite little poem, which is snid to bo a favourite with the Queen : — I'm but nn auld body Livin' up in Deeside, \n a twa-room'd bit hoosie. Wi a toofa' beside, Wi my coo and my grmnph, I'm- as happy 's a bee, But I'm far prouder noo Since she noddit to me ! I'm nae sac far past wit — I'm gey trier and hail, Can plant twa-three tawties, An' look after my kail ; And when nor Queen passep, I'm oot to sec. Gin by luck she micht notice And nod oot to me ! But I've aye been unlucky, And the blinds were aye doon, Till last week the time (>' her veesit cam' roon.' I waved my bit apron As briik's I could dae, And the Queen lauched fu' kindly An' noddit to me ! My son sleep* in Egyptian nue case to f reit — An' yet when I think o't I'm s»ir like to greet. Sho may feel for my sorrow-— She's a inithcr, ye see— An' maybe she kont o't When she noddit to me !
